The Surgeon General’s Report on Mental Health estimated that almost 21 percent of U.S. children have a diagnosable mental health or substance use disorder. Five percent have a mental health or substance use disorder that causes extreme functional impairment. With approximately 1,000,000 youth in Kentucky, that means that there are about 50,000 youth in the Commonwealth under the age of 18 with mental health concerns.
Kentuckians Encouraging Youth to Succeed (KEYS) addresses these problems head on by providing access to services and advocating for families and youth.
KEYS, a part of the Unbridled Spirit of Kentucky, is funded by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and is administered by NorthKey Community Care.
